Blog Post of the Day:
What is an infographic? If you don't know, go look it up. Read about it and then in your own words tell me what an infographic is. What do infographics do? How do they work? What makes a really good infographic?

Find an example of a really cool infographic on the web and place it on your blog.

A infographic is a visual that you can quickly glance at and read the information.  It can be a graph, data table, any kind of chart, or an architectural design.  What makes a good inforgraphic is that it's easy to read and efficient.

Blog Post of the Day:
Imagine Mr. Bacon has asked you to suggest one way of improving Blue Valley High School to make it a better place for students. Think about the changes that are needed at your school. Pick one change you feel would really make a difference and explain what it is and why you'd make the change.

I think that an improvement to our school would be to have the lunchroom snack bar open after school.  There have been countless number of times where my friends and I have been hungry after school, but we don't carry around singles and quarters for the vending machine.  That's why the lunch line is so successful, because they keep us on tab.  If they kept it open that would make things a lot easier.

Blog Post of the Day:
What are your favorite apps on your phone or tablet? Why?

Currently there is a tie for what my favorite app on is; it's between Twitter and Spider Solitaire.  I like twitter because and can tweet about people and they don't even know.  Also I can tweet something really stupid and get a bunch of favorites, where if I had said it pout loud people would have just made fun of me. For example, I tweeted "Still on iOS 6" and got a lot of favorites, but when I said it to my friend Sydnei, she just laughed in my face.  I like Spider Solitaire too because, its like regular solitaire but on steroids. It's just great.

Blog Post of the Day:
What is email? When do you use email in your own personal life? List reasons and ways that people use email. What do you know about "email etiquette"?

Email is a technological updated way of sending a letter. It was created in 1993 as an easy way of sending mail.  Now people can send it through computers, phones, and tablets.  I think email etiquette the correct way of writing an email is stating who you are, then what your problem or topic is, then give the information is, and finally a closing.

Blog Post of the Day:
Now that you've been in Emerging Technology for several weeks... what do you think? Do you think the web tools (Drive, Evernote, Bubbl, etc.) are helpful to you? Do you think they will be helpful throughout high school or even college? Explain.

So far, I've liked what we've been doing in emerging technologies.  I think all of the tools we've used are going to be very helpful.  I especially like google drive; I used it last year so I know it's reliable and easy.  I really like how I can access it from and computer or my phone and still have all of my work.  In the past I would have to email it to myself which was hassle. I will continue using it throughout high school and maybe into college.

Blog Post of the Day:
Do you enjoy writing? When do you enjoy it? What kind of writing do you enjoy? Why do you think the ability to write is so important no matter what kind of writing it is? Give an example that you enjoyed writing or hated writing. Why?

I sometimes enjoy writing, but only if it's the topic is something I'm interested in.  I think when I write an essay for school its fine when I enjoy the topic or can relate to the story.  Although, there have been times where I haven't enjoyed writing essays.  When we have to write an essay with limited time and over a boring topic, I don't like that.  I think it's important to write because with writing you can express more of your ideas and feelings.  Where with just saying it you tend to hold back more.  Also, people tend to judge more when your just saying it.

Blog Post of the Day:
Reflect on this quote. Give an example of a time in your life that this might have been the case.

I think the quote, "By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail," by Benjamin Franklin, means that if you don't even try to help yourself the first time, then you won't ever try because your just getting yourself into bad habits.  When I was in sixth grade I was really good about studying; then when I got to seventh grade I just blew off studying because I thought I could do without it.  I did fine on the first test, so I kept not studying.  I kept this going for a while, then I got to eighth grade and was caught in this bad habit of not studying and it was really hard to break it.

What did you do this weekend? Share pictures if you have them!

I did not get very much sleep this weekend. First I went to the Blue Valley football game with some friends and that was freezing.  I didn't get home till 11:00, so that didn't feel good when I had to wake up at 5:30 in the morning for cross country.  My meet was out in Paola, which is a super boring place, and it was so cold!  Not to worry though, the lack of sleep didn't hold me back I got 3rd place on girls JV!  When I finally  got home, I just fell asleep the first place I saw.  Once I got home, I g0ot asked to homecoming

Blog Post of the Day:
What is the importance of research? Why do you need to know how to research? What have you learned in high school about researching topics and finding quality resources? Have you had a helpful teacher that has taught you to research? Explain.

Research is important because it backs stuff up.  If I were to say that cold water boils just as fast or faster than warm water you would think I'm lying.  Although if i had research from quality resources and told you that and explained it it wouldn't be bad. Research is important when you say something that might sound, but is true, people might make fun of you for it but then you throw all this research in their face and are like "ha told you so!" Because lets be  real here, Saying "I told you so" is probably the best feeling in the world.  There can be consequences though; say you use Wikipedia and it gives you the wrong answer, the person you're fighting with comes back with the right answer from a good website and you're just left there looking stupid.  My middle school librarian, Mrs. Nocita did a very good job of teaching how to research using key terms and databases. So if you want to say "I told you so" research on quality websites.

Global Issue Selection - Cameron Nadler

For my global issue in Emerging Technology I have chosen tornadoes. I have begun researching the issue and you can find my research questions here.

Blog post of the day:

If I were to complain about kids these days it would probably be about their reliance on technology. I thought my generation was bad, but they're so far past the line they can't find their way back. Everybody is fat and has NO social skills.  What used to be sports out on a field or court with a ball is now replaced with a game controller.  First off, all the people are wicked neurotic and way too honest; they really can't control themselves.

Tell me about the global issue you selected. What do you already know about the issue? What are you looking forward to learning about it? Explain.

My global issue is tornadoes.  Tornadoes are the outcome of when a cold mass meat a warm mass and combine.  Some tornadoes can become as wide as one my long. My project will be focusing on prevention of injuries and damage along with the aftermath. I'm looking forward to find out ways communities have integrated their homes so they're more efficient and more durable.

What did you do this weekend? Share pictures if you have them!

This weekend I was in a tournament and had 4 soccer games.  We lost all of them but it was fine because we were playing U-17 instead of U-15. One of the refs we had was terrible; he was calling all these fowls that didn't even happen. But it was probably because he woke up on the wrong side of the bed and needed a hug. So, that was probably the low of my weekend, but the plus was that I had Chipotle.  I also had a lot of raw cookie dough which was delicious.

Yesterday I asked you to "think differently" and push yourself to be uncommon with your PSA project using Google Slides. Why do you think I asked you to do that? What is the point? Why not just use bullets and headers? Explain.

When you told us to "think differently," I thought it meant try and make your presentation different.  Obviously it meant don't make it exactly like your neighbors PSA, but it also meant that you are not like anybody else so you won't have the same perspective about it.  Last year for a school essay me and friend had the same topic and some of the same quotes; so instead of have practically the same essay it was different.  It was different because we interpreted it differently and different perspective on the topic.  A PSA is supposed to catch you attention, so if all you see are bullet points with no color that won't interest you.

Tell me all about your Labor Day weekend. What did you do? Include photos!

This Labor Day weekend I did so many things and had so many accomplishments! Just kidding, i did nothing. The extent of my movement was probably getting out of bed to get food just so I could back up to my room; for the record I brought enough food up to my to last me for the rest of the day. After I finished eating, I returned to hibernation just like any other normal person. I continued this Friday night- Monday.
